We celebrated National Mathematics Day at
Government Kannada Higher Primary No. 24 Mahantesh Nagar in honour of the great mathematician Srinivasa
Ramanujan. Students from various schools in Belagavi City participated in a range of activities, with a
highlight being a hands-on 3D model creation workshop. During the workshop, students created shapes like
cones, cubes, and cylinders, which helped them gain a better understanding of math and sparked their curiosity
and creativity.
The aim of the celebration was to make Mathematics more enjoyable by connecting theoretical knowledge with
practical applications. Creating 3D models allowed students to see and touch abstract mathematical ideas,
making learning more meaningful. We also awarded prizes to students who excelled in the 3D model creation
activity, not just as a reward but also to encourage them to keep exploring the fascinating world of
Mathematics.
To give students a glimpse into Srinivasa Ramanujan's life and contributions, we showed the movie "The Man Who
Knew Infinity". This film portrayed Ramanujan's journey, showcasing the challenges and successes of his
remarkable career. This cinematic experience aimed to connect students with the human side of math, inspiring
them to aim for greatness in their own Mathematics pursuits.
Overall, the Math Day celebration aimed to pay tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan and encourage a new generation
of students to discover the wonders of this timeless subject.
